Chairman of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Hon. Olufemi  Akanbi Okeowo, has expressed confidence that the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will replicate what he did in Lagos state at the national level and appealed to Nigerians for support.

The Council boss, who dropped this hint recently in a chat with newsmen in his office, maintained that given Asiwaju’s track record in Lagos state, he will accomplish a lot for Nigerians, describing his emergence as the handiwork of God.

According to him, “God is kind to us, everybody knows that Asiwaju will replicate what he did in Lagos at the national level, and it’s the wish of Nigerians, who voted him through the ballot, and I also believe that God has done it. They have been able to make themselves an instrument to actualize and accomplish this feat. We thank Nigerians as we are thanking God, because God loves Nigerians, and gave us Asiwaju. We are happy, I am very happy and delighted!”

Speaking further, Hon. Okeowo appealed to those who lost in the just concluded elections to accept defeat in good faith, saying “If you fall, you rise up again, keep moving, and there is no need to waste efforts in challenging this, challenging that.

“Asiwaju has made himself an outstanding politician and leader and we have records to show that, and that is the reason Nigerians voted for him. He wants to improve a lot of Nigerians’ living standards, the health standards and environment, and the economic condition of Nigerians, I am sure, he can handle everything.

“You know we have a scenario to point at, look at Lagos State, everyone is happy here in Lagos. We are happy in Lagos and we want to extend that to all parts of the country. And we all have the right to be happy as Nigerians, and that is why we voted for him.

“Believe me, trust me, Asiwaju is going to do great work for Nigerians, as he did for Lagosisans. So the other parties that lost should go back to the queue, and do more work, so if it’s the will of God that they will become president in the future, yes why not, they will. This one is God’s will for Asiwaju to become the president and he is the president of Nigeria. We thank God!”

On the victory of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Hon. Okeowo, described it as God crowning the efforts of the governor and the support from Lagosians and expressed gratitude to God and Lagosians, noting that their efforts were not in vain.

“I feel on top of the world, our collective efforts were not wasted labour, God actually crowned our efforts and God loves Lagos state, and they allowed Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a second term to consolidate his good deeds in Lagos State.

“We are just lucky to have him, we are just lucky for God giving us a man like that. He will take Lagos to the promised land, I believe that!”

Hon. Okeowo disclosed that his administration will continue to initiate projects and programmes that will impact positively the lives of people in the council area while appreciating the people of his Council for their support during the election culminating in the victory of the party.

In his words, “Yes, all of us did it together, all of us contributed immensely to ensure that we have the day, and you know all the programmes were made to address and also buttress our position as Lagosians and as an APC, that we are also able to stand on our feet and we are going to continue to do what is best for everyone.

“As for the stakeholders, we all jointly address situations, there’s no sole efforts on this, it was a collective responsibility and we thank God nobody was found wanting, all our programme was adhered to towards the election, meeting the needs and aspirations of our people, constructing roads, and empowering our people, we are making our people happy with our programmes, health programme, educational programme, and many other things that they see, I mean they saw all those things and they said, they want these people to do more, we had better vote for them. So that is exactly what they did and we are happy.”

On the peaceful atmosphere in his Council area before, during, and after the election, he said, “One of our first cardinal programmes was to ensure that we create a peaceful environment for businesses to thrive in this environment for economic growth, and we were able to address that by using the LSNC, and the other security agencies, and we thank God we got support from the people, and God always standing by us.

“And supporting all other moves and efforts, we were able to achieve a peaceful environment, which has not departed from us here in Ifelodun LCDA. We thank God, we have a peaceful environment and everyone is happy we can all go out safely and come back safely. The era of returning home and making a call before returning home and asking where should I pass, should I pass through Orile or Ijora, are they fighting, we are not experiencing it again in Ifelodun.

“You can go out safely to do your business, open your shop, leave your shop till 12 midnight, and nothing will happen to you until you go back safely.”

He noted that the just-concluded election actually diverted attention from some projects but added that now that election had come and gone, he would focus on more projects.

“Yes, the election has actually taken our concentration a bit, but now work has started, we have awarded three road constructions, and that is ongoing, we have turned the council into a construction site, all over the place, and we have started people-oriented programms, as related to education to train, development, health matters, and all that, so, everything has started and is going on at a very fast rate. I believe that, with God on our side, we will do more than we did last year and continue to progress in Jesus Christ name. Amen,” he stated.
