In a renew onslaught against criminal elements in the State, operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have recovered no fewer than 10 stolen vehicles within the month of November, 2025, ‘The Unique Model Magazine’ has learnt.
Similarly, 52 suspected criminals were apprehended within the month in review over alleged involvement in various crimes.
The Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh confirmed the report on Monday, at a media briefing on the breakthroughs recorded by the command.
Other exhibits recovered by the command were also paraded by the police commissioner, which include firearms, ammunition, charms, fake U.S. currency worth $4,000.
Noting that Lagos is very peaceful and stable, Jimoh attributed the progress to new security strategies and increased deployment across the state.
“Lagos is safe for everyone coming into the state from across the world. Nobody should cancel their flight plans. We have made massive deployments across all recreational centres, roads and black spots,” he said.
Jimoh urged Lagosians to avoid leaving their keys with car wash attendants or drivers.
“Most of the vehicles stolen in Lagos are taken by drivers who are newly employed. We have also seen cases where car wash attendants drive vehicles away.
“We set up three tactical teams and recovered the vehicle on 3 November. Owners must install tracking systems and never leave original papers in their cars,” Jimoh warned.
He also said that some of the vehicles with no documentation, were suspected to be stolen from other states or across Nigeria’s borders.
Jimoh said that the command has introduced a new Coast Guard Force (CGF) as part of a major crackdown on violent crime in the state.
According to him, the Coast Guard Force is introduced to boost marine and coastal security, positioned to secure waterways, coastal communities and strategic locations.
He said the CGF will work alongside tactical units, patrol teams, stop-and-search squads, and Ember Months deployments.
“We created the Coast Guard Force to cover our waterways and coastal areas. They will support our anti-kidnapping and robbery operations,” he explained.
The Command also created a dedicated Anti-Car Theft Section, which recovered several vehicles showcased at the parade.
Jimoh hinted that additional Tactical Squads will be created with the aim of each in all the 20 local government councils and 35 local council development areas to strengthen the squads and bolster security of the State.
On Ember Months and festive period, the commissioner assured residents that Lagos remains safe as year-end activities intensify.
“From September to date, no significant security breach has occurred anywhere in Lagos. This is due to daily show-of-force operations and convoy patrols,” he said.
