The hall buzzed with anticipation as Mayor Dr. Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo and his management team unveiled the “Budget of Continuous Development” for Ifelodun LCDA. Among the dignitaries, two familiar faces stepped forward to share what the numbers meant for the community.
Hon. Kolawole Taiwo HKT, a longtime stalwart of the council, was the first to speak. “I feel glad,” he said, his tone warm and confident. “The current set of executives has proved they are reliable. Whenever money flows into Ifelodun, they turn it into projects that gladden our hearts. The secretariat already shines like Victoria Island, roads are being paved, health centres upgraded, and the mayor has promised land for a youth recreational centre and improvement on existing projects, Mayor Okeowo is a great blessing to Ifelodun LCDA. This budget is a true continuation of the development we started years ago.”
Across the room, Mr. Idowu Bolaji, CDC Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA, nodded in agreement. “It’s exactly how we’ve done it every year—disciplined, well‑prepared, and swift,” he added. “We just wrapped up our budget retreat and, without delay, presented it to the legislature. In Ifelodun we don’t waste time; the budget is a continuation of last year’s improvements. Every sector needs attention—roads, health, education, and now sports facilities for our youths. We’re scouting land for a recreation centre and expanding empowerment programmes for GCE and JAMB candidates.”
Both leaders highlighted the same theme: continuity. Hon. Taiwo emphasized the mayor’s pledge to involve youths and keep the momentum alive, while Mr. Bolaji stressed that 2026, a presidential election year, would be a showcase of Ifelodun’s readiness to support President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
When asked where they see Ifelodun in the next twelve months, the two voices blended into a single vision. “We are already competing with the best LGAs in Lagos,” they said in unison. “Lekki and Surulere will soon be measuring themselves against us. Roads will be smoother, schools better equipped, health centres more responsive, and our youth will have a place to thrive.”
Their collective message was clear: the “Budget of Continuous Development” is not just a set of figures—it is a promise kept, a roadmap for growth, and a testament to the steadfast leadership of Mayor Okeowo and his team. As the applause faded, the stakeholders’ confidence echoed through the hall, signaling a year of tangible progress for Ifelodun.
