Saturday, the 4th of April, 2026 marks another defining moment in the commitment of the executive chairman of Apapa Iganmu LCDA Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu towards a secured environment as he joined the strategic training of security personnel on Drone and Intelligence.
The 2-day intensive and insightful training programme, organised by Societal Concerns in collaboration with Nigeria Police Force and Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority,held at the Police Training College,Ikeja, brought to the fore the importance of technology in the protection of lives and property.
Facilitated by seasoned resource persons which include an instructor at the Police Training College, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Kayode Ibrahim Ajanaku, a senior investigative journalist, television presenter and done handling expert Mr. Seun of TVC, amongst others,the capacity building training centred on enhancement of community policing, intelligence gathering and drone intelligence.
Though, the patron of Societal Concerns, the presence of Hon. Jimoh at the programme underscores his believe in security as a shared responsibility and not just a duty.
To reaffirm his avowed commitment towards to a well trained personnel in handling security issues, a total number of 10 security operatives attached to the chairman’s office led by the Chief Security Adviser, Hon. Adeleke Adeshina were sponsored to participate in the strategic training programme to boost their knowledge.
Also in attendance to deepen his knowledge as a seasoned journalist and core crime reporter, was the media aide to the council helmsman, Mr. Raymond Olugbenga Tedunjaye.
In his remarked as chairman of the occasion during the closing ceremony, Hon. Jimoh emphasised the need for collective efforts towards tackling security challenges, noting that it should not be left for government or security agencies alone, but everybody’s responsibility.
Hon. Jimoh commended the Societal Concerns for the initiative, just as he pledged his continued support for the organisation.
The Apapa Iganmu LCDA boss charged the participants to replicate the knowledge acquired to their colleagues and mates back home.
He equally disclosed of plans to purchase a security patrol vehicle and a drone for his security team as parts of efforts to strengthen its operational activities.
To add colour to the programme was the Commandant of the Police Training College, Ikeja, Assistant Inspector General of Police AIG Omolara Ibidun Oloruntoba, who participated during the practical flying of the drone and other senior police officers.
Highlights of the closing ceremony was the presentation of certificate to a member of the House of Representative Hon. James Faleke, Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu and others for their support towards the growth of the organisation.
Equally participants were also presented certificate of participation and certification.
The training programme, which brought together no fewer than 155 security operatives, features participants drawn from various agencies including the Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Agency (LNSA), Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS), and other critical security sectors.
