Residents of Morogbo area of Lagos has been thrown into bewilderment following the alleged stabbing to death of a house wife by her husband.
Our correspondent reliably gathered that, the suspect identified as Peter Dike is now in Police over the alleged offence.
This occurred, just as a staff of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) reportedly got electrocuted.
As at press time, the reason for the alleged murder by Dike is yet to be ascertained.
The Spokesperson of the Lagos State Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin who confirmed the incident said that the suspect was apprehended by operatives of the Morogbo Police Division in Badagry area of the State.
The 38-year-old woman was said to have been married to the man for almost a decade, while the man had suspected that his wife was cheating on him.
Sources said on the day of the incident, the husband and wife were involved in a minor disagreement which led to Dike reminding his wife of promiscuity.
In the heat of the fight, sources disclosed that Dike rushed into the kitchen, got a kitchen knife and thrust it into his wife’s belly.
Hundeyin said that the incident happened on Wednesday at about 11.25 a.m.
According to him, a team of detectives while on patrol of the town around Oke-Ira Ilogbo Remi got the information of the incident and raced to the scene.
Hundeyin stated that the detectives at the scene met Dike holding the lifeless body of his wife soaked in her own blood crying and calling for help.
Following inspection of the body by Police officers, it was discovered that she had died and Dike was taken into custody, while the corpse was deposited at the Badagry General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
“Upon interrogation, Dike confessed to the crime and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, for further investigation,” Hundeyin announced.
Meanwhile, a staff of an electricity company has reportedly been electrocuted in Yaba area of the State.
Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident in a release, hinted that the incident occurred while the victim was reconnecting and clearing some faulty electrical wires at Borno way by Ayodele junction, Ebute metta.
According to the police image manager, the incident occurred at about 10.15am on 17th March, 2025 and was reported by his colleague at the Tabs Police Station.
” He was rescued and rushed to Federal Medical Centre, Ebute metta for treatment, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor. Based on report, a team of detectives visited the scene. The hospital was also visited, where the corpse was photographed. The corpse has been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy. Meanwhile, investigation is in progress”, the police spokesperson stated.
