Piqued by the incessant criminal activities in his constituency, a Lagos parliamentarian representing Lagos Island Constituency 1, Dr. Dolapo Badru has lightened the area with the installation of Solar powered street lights with CCTV cameras to address insecurity in the constituency.
Our correspondent reliably gathered that Dr. Badru who felt worried about the reports of some miscreants, attacking innocent people by snatching their belongings and disappeared into thin air as a result of epileptic power supply on the Island, initiated the project in order to halt the menace and arrest perpetrators.
Authoritative source revealed that the Hon aimed to bring back the old glory on the Island in the 60s and 70s, where people move freely from Olowogbowo to Isale-Eko to Obadina, Itafaji, Freeman without any harrasment or attack as a result of perennial street lights at night.
As learnt, the era of street fighting by some area boys, to attacking another who vandalize property and escape into thin air will be drastically reduced, as perpetrators would be easily identified and get arrested by the Police.
“Some of these boys used darkness to perpetrate their nefarious acts and excape but with lights everywhere, it won’t be easy again to do such because residents in the area can easily identify them”, he hinted.
He stressed further, “Lagos Island is used to be a peaceful area where people gathered in their respective base to relax after daily job but now, the miscreants have taken over. Even by 8pm, you will be panicking if you are not at home, because you will not know what is happening or what will happen to you when you get home”.
The source however commended Hon Badru for his foresight on the security matter and others like distribution of Noodles to over 1000 members of his Constituency for Ramadan.
