The newly inaugurated executive of Ladipo Central Executive Auto Dealers Association, LACEC, led by Hon. Prince Africaus Ogudoro, has promised that his administration would leave behind a worthy legacy at the expiration of his tenure.

Hon. Ogudoro who stated this in his address during the inauguration ceremony recently in Ladipo market, Lagos state, acknowledged the immense contributions of previous leaders of the association and promised to build on their foundation.

He noted that the spontaneous outbreak of joy, singing and dancing which lasted for days when he was declared the winner of the just concluded LACEF election is a testimony of the hunger in the heart of traders for the sustenance of good governance in Ladipo Market which he represents.

Hon. Ogudoro who also acknowledged the enormity of the task ahead of him and his team stated that there would not be a quick fix but that his administration would hit the ground running.

He extended a hand of friendship to the Presidential Candidates of the other political parties in the last LACEADA General Elections alongside their supporters to join him in the quest for a safe Ladipo Market.

Distinguished past president of (A.ka. LACEC), BoT members ably led by Hon. Humphrey Obiwulu, the Babaloja of Ladipo Market, (Eze Monday Obijiogu – J P), United Heads, Warehouse Owners, Directors and Managers and other stakeholders in our dear market, I greet you all.

The peaceful transfer of authority is rare in history yet common in our market. With a simple oath, we affirm old tradition and make new beginnings.

I am honoured and humbled to stand here where so many of LACEC leaders have come before me and so many will follow. In thanking the Almighty God for making this day possible, I most sincerely thank all the people who have encouraged and nurtured me in my political life’s journey – people like my boss (Hon. Jude Nwankwo, Ike Kingsley Ogunor).

This day was made possible through the tutelage and mentorship of many people too numerous to mention here, I am most grateful. I pray to God for wisdom, grace and grit to effectively bear the torch that has been handed over to me. Success can only be achieved if we all work together and reinforce one another.

It is with great pleasure and immense gratitude to God that I address you today as the 10th Democratically Elected President-General of Ladipo International Market, a.k.a. LACEC. Your spontaneous outbreak of joy in rejoicing and singing and dancing which lasted for days when I was declared the winner of the just concluded LACEF election is a testimony of the cry and hunger in your heart for the sustenance of good governance in Ladipo Market. Thank you for this show of confidence in us. Thank you for the privilege and honour you have given us to serve you.

We know you are expecting much from us. Today is not just my inauguration but our inauguration as it marks the beginning of our collective quest for good governance in our market.

I recall with nostalgia as all my team and I traversed the length and breadth of Ladipo Market, communicating our vision of a peaceful, progressive, prosperous, united and a well secured market. We emphasized the Ladipo Brotherhood irrespective of state, tribe and faith. I want to assure that  I will use these identities as positive values to enhance our common good, I therefore, welcome you all to Ladipo Market where tribe, state and faith will no longer be tools for division but multi-coloured threads to be weaved into strong ropes that will bind us together for unity and progress.

Let me take this moment to appreciate our founding fathers and past leaders, those with us and those departed, for their great sacrifices and services for our dear market. Indeed, they used their intellect, time, energy and zeal to lay foundations, emancipate and redeem our people. We can look back and say indeed, they contributed their quotas to the growth and development of our market. Today, we can build upon what they had done and we say thank you sirs.

I understand clearly the enormity of the task before me, and I have no illusions that it is going to be an easy ride. I must mention that there are no quick fix-solutions to these challenges but one thing is certain, we are prepared to take the challenges head-on, and we must hit the ground running immediately.

Fellow traders and business men and women, we have the resolve and we are resolute in our desire for sustenance of good governance in our dear market. Let me re-affirm that we will summon the political will to initiate policies and programmes that will engender progress and prosperity in our market. This is my solemn commitment and you can hold me with my word. Our plans are audacious and our programmes will be transformative but the smooth execution of these plans and programmes are predicted for peace, this is because development can only exist where peaceful co-existence thrives.

However, criminal elements, invaders hell-bent in destruction will be decisively dealt with. Also, crisis-merchants will not go unpunished, we shall be strong on the rule of law to ensure that criminality under whatever guise is curtailed. It is also necessary to reassert that campaigns are over and gear has shifted to governance.

Again, I extend a hand of friendship to the Presidential Candidates of other political parties in the last LACEADA General Elections alongside their supporters to join me in the quest for a safe Ladipo Market. Fellow traders, the time is now to unite in the face of a common adversary. We must learn to live together as brothers, or perish together as fools. We are only as strong as we are united, and as weak as we are divided. Our strength is in our unity, not in our numbers. A united minority is stronger than a divided majority. The Holy Bible upholds this truism as it stated that “a house divided against itself cannot stand.”

In addition, my executives and I are focused and single-minded in our quest to bequeath worthy legacies to our successors and successive generations. Legacies that will live long in the hearts of our people.

Conclusion: As I conclude this address, let me express my profound appreciation to the  leadership of my great party, party elders and members, our supporters, campaign teams, lec staff, security agencies, traditional rulers and my family members for their unwavering support that led to my election victory.

I want the Ladipo traders to trust me to be there for them in the next three years.
