The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has applauded the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies for the successful rescue of 20 prospective corps members and one other person abducted in the South East, describing it as a victory for the nation and a proof of what coordinated, intelligence-driven operations can achieve.
Marwa, in a statement on Thursday, said the safe return of the young Nigerians to their families is a testament to the courage, professionalism and unity of purpose of the nation’s security agencies.
“Our corps members are the nation’s best, serving their fatherland with hope and idealism. Nigeria owes them protection, and today our gallant men and women have delivered,” the NDLEA boss stated.
He noted that as a retired military officer serving under the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, it is imperative to draw public attention to such achievements and commend the security forces.
The NDLEA Chairman also acknowledged the series of successful rescue operations carried out by security agencies across the country in recent months, which have led to the freedom of many other victims of abduction and restored hope to families.
“Every life rescued is a triumph for our collective resolve. These operations show that criminals cannot outrun a determined and united security architecture,” he said.
Marwa assured the agencies of the NDLEA’s continued support and cooperation, emphasizing that drug trade and drug abuse often fuel violent crimes, including kidnapping and banditry.
“Where drugs flow, insecurity thrives. That is why the NDLEA will keep working with sister agencies to dismantle the networks that fund and fuel criminality, and we will deepen intelligence-sharing and joint operations,” he assured.
He urged the security agencies to sustain the momentum and called on Nigerians to continue to support them with timely and credible information, while wishing the rescued corps members speedy recovery and full reunion with their families.
