Success stories are often born from resilience, determination, and an unwavering belief in the power of divinity. The journey of the Commissioner of Police , CP Bode Ojajuni is a testament to this truth. Simply called Bode, actually the full pronunciation is Olubode.
From the vibrant community of Igbotako, in the southern part of Ondo state, an Ikale by tribe, earning a place in the world map, CP Ojajuni has demonstrated that one’s background does not define one’s future. Through discipline, hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to personal growth, he has transformed challenges into opportunities and become a source of inspiration to many.
Born on 3rd, April 1970 and a Cadet ASP Course 19, the appointment of CP Olubode ‘Bode’ Ojajuni as the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Police Command, marks the beginning of what many security stakeholders believe is a new phase of intelligence-driven policing, strategic crime fighting and professional law enforcement in the Gateway State.
The Igbotako born, crime bursting tactician assumed office as the 38th Commissioner of Police of the Gateway State Command on March 30, 2026 with over three decades of operational, investigative and international policing experience, bringing to Ogun State an impressive blend of tactical expertise, administrative competence, global exposure and deep local intelligence—qualities that have already begun yielding remarkable results in the fight against crime across the state.
Since assuming office, the Ogun State Police Command under his purposeful leadership has recorded significant breakthroughs in its relentless campaign against criminality.
This is in fulfillment of his promise during his maiden briefing on assumption of office, when he pledged zero tolerance for indiscipline, corruption, and human rights abuses.
Through intelligence-led operations, proactive policing strategies and coordinated security interventions, the command has successfully arrested armed robbery suspects, cultists, suspected murderers, kidnappers, fraudsters and other criminal elements threatening the peace and security of Ogun State.
These successes have not come by chance. They are products of a policing philosophy anchored on actionable intelligence, strategic deployment of personnel, community engagement and swift operational response. CP Ojajuni has demonstrated an uncommon ability to combine modern investigative techniques with indigenous intelligence gathering, leveraging both technology and grassroots information networks to prevent crime and dismantle criminal syndicates before they strike.
His wealth of experience has also enabled the command to improve collaboration with sister security agencies, community leaders and residents, fostering a safer environment where citizens are encouraged to participate actively in community policing and intelligence sharing.
The journey of CP Olubode Ojajuni in the Nigeria Police Force is one defined by excellence, discipline and continuous professional growth. He joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 1996 and has since served in several strategic operational, investigative and administrative capacities across the country.
Between 2005 and 2007, he served as the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Lagos State Police Command, where he distinguished himself through effective public communication and enhanced police-public relations.
From 2007 to 2009, he was the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Bode Thomas Division in Surulere, Lagos, where he earned recognition for maintaining law and order in one of Lagos’ busiest policing divisions.
His investigative prowess became even more evident during his tenure as Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Fraud Section at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, between 2011 and 2012. There, he supervised numerous high-profile investigations and strengthened the command’s capacity to combat financial and organised crimes.
CP Ojajuni also served as Squadron Commander of the 20 Police Mobile Force (PMF), Ikeja; 49 PMF, Epe; 31 PMF, Asaba, Delta State; and 16 PMF, Abeokuta. These appointments exposed him to complex tactical operations, crisis management and public order policing across different geopolitical environments.
His operational versatility further saw him serve as Chairman of the Petroleum Task Force and Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Robbery Section at the SCID in Yola, Adamawa State, where he led successful operations against violent criminal networks.
Recognising his administrative competence, he was appointed Principal Staff Officer to the then Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, from 2017 to 2019, providing strategic support at the highest level of police leadership.
Between 2020 and 2022, he served as Area Commander of Area A Command, Lion Building, Lagos Island—one of Nigeria’s most sensitive policing jurisdictions. His outstanding performance during this period earned him the prestigious Area Commander of the Year Award in 2021.
His familiarity with Ogun State also predates his current appointment. From 2022 to 2023, he served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Ogun State, where he played a critical role in strengthening criminal investigations and intelligence gathering.
His career subsequently assumed an international dimension when he was posted to the INTERPOL National Central Bureau, Abuja, as Deputy Commissioner of Police in 2023. His exceptional performance led to his appointment as Commissioner of Police, INTERPOL (Nigeria National Central Bureau) in 2025, placing him at the forefront of Nigeria’s international policing cooperation against transnational organised crime, cybercrime, terrorism and human trafficking.
One of the defining moments of his international career came in 2025 when he won a keenly contested election into the INTERPOL Africa Committee, securing the fifth seat on the committee for Nigeria. The feat was widely celebrated as a significant diplomatic and professional achievement that strengthened Nigeria’s voice in continental policing and international security cooperation.
Beyond operational successes, CP Ojajuni has consistently received recognition for professionalism and outstanding service. In 2007, he was honoured with the Outstanding African Nations Builder’s Gold Award in Accra, Ghana, in recognition of his contributions to security and nation building.
He is also a two-time recipient of the prestigious Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) Award, reflecting the confidence reposed in his crime-fighting abilities by security correspondents and stakeholders.
Academically, CP Ojajuni is an alumnus of Lagos State University and the University of Ado Ekiti, institutions that further enriched his intellectual capacity and leadership development.
Today, Ogun State is benefiting from a police commissioner whose career has traversed grassroots policing, criminal investigations, tactical operations, police administration and international law enforcement. His extensive local experience, global exposure and mastery of intelligence-led policing continue to shape a command that is increasingly proactive, responsive and results-oriented.

Modest Breakthroughs At A Glance :
The Igbotako born Ondo State crime bursting tactician opened the flood gate of dymstifying criminals in the gate way state with the dismantling of a criminal rings across Abeokuta, Wasimi, and Ibafo, arresting six suspects, recovered firearms, ammunition, five stolen generators and phones.
It was executed through a coordinated and swift intelligence-led operations jointly spearheaded by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT).
The suspects were identified as Afisu Awesu, Bala Aminu, Moruf Sodiq (alias “Okiki), Mumuni Amodu (alias “Stone”), Abayomi John (alias “Ibafo”), and Adeboye Ojesina, for offences of illegal possession of firearms, armed intimidation, theft, conspiracy, and receiving stolen property.
Exhibits, comprising one Pump-Action rifle, one locally-fabricated pistol, two live cartridges, one expended cartridge, five generators, and nine Android mobile phones, suspected to have been stolen, were recovered.
