RAYMOND TEDUNJAYE, Lagos.

IGP Olatunji Ridwan Disu is the 23rd Indigenous Inspector General of Police, Federal Republic of Nigeria. Since taking charge, his tenure has been defined by reforms centered on professionalism, technology, welfare, and public trust.

Key Achievements:

*Crime Fighting & Operational Efficiency

Intelligence-led policing: Shifted the Force from reactive to proactive policing, with emphasis on intelligence gathering, technology deployment, and data-driven operations.

*Anti-Kidnap & Anti-Banditry Operations: Strengthened tactical units and inter-agency collaboration, leading to the disruption of kidnapping rings and bandit hideouts across FCT and border states.

*Arrest & Prosecution Records: Under his leadership direction, the Force has sustained the arrest of thousands of suspects yearly, with thousands of firearms, ammunition, and vehicles recovered nationwide.

* Personnel Welfare, Discipline & Motivation

*Merit-based Promotions: Oversaw the promotion and decoration of senior officers based on competence and vacancy, reinforcing morale.

*Reward for Excellence: Institutionalized a policy where “Police Officer of the Year” and officers with 2 consecutive IGP commendations are recommended for accelerated promotion by the Police Service Commission.

*Welfare Schemes: Continued support for families of fallen officers through the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Scheme.

* Institutional & Infrastructure Development:

Pushed for the completion and commissioning of key projects:

*Nigeria Police Resource Centre, International Conference Centre, NPF National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), Force Intelligence Building, Police Intelligence School Share-Kwara, and Evidence Storage facilities

* Procured operational assets including vehicles, APCs, drones, and gun trucks to enhance response capacity.

*Community Policing & Public Trust

-*People-centered policing: Reinforced the policy that “citizens are the bosses of the Police.” Mandated zero tolerance for abuse of office, corruption, and human rights violations.

*Community Engagement: Deepened collaboration with PCRC, traditional rulers, youth groups, and civil society to improve intelligence and service delivery.

*Zero Tolerance for Misconduct: Directed X-Squad and internal monitoring units to sanction extortion, incivility, and unethical conduct.

* Leadership Pedigree

Before becoming IGP, he served meritoriously as Commander IRT, PSO to IGP, CP Rivers, CP FCT, and AIG FCID Alagbon. He is widely regarded as a “Super Cop” with awards for outstanding anti-crime leadership.
