The Media Conference of the Methodist Church Nigeria has appointed Rev. Stanley Ihedigbo as Editor of Methodist News, the official news publication of the Church.
The appointment was announced by the Head of the Media Conference and Editor-in-Chief of Methodist News, Very Rev. Godwin Enenche.
Enenche said the decision was part of efforts to strengthen the editorial quality and professional management of the publication.
Rev. Ihedigbo, a Methodist minister and experienced journalist, is the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of The Mirror Newspaper, a national newspaper with both print and digital platforms.
According to Enenche, his wealth of experience in journalism, newspaper publishing, editorial management, communication and media strategy will add value to the publication.
He said the Media Conference considered Ihedigboโs professional competence and understanding of both the Church and the media industry as vital to the continued growth of Methodist News.
He described Methodist News as an important platform for reporting the activities, programmes, achievements and contributions of the Methodist Church Nigeria, stressing that effective editorial leadership was necessary to sustain its relevance and credibility.
He noted that the media remains a critical instrument for communicating the mission and activities of the Church to members and the larger society, expressing confidence that Ihedigbo would justify the confidence reposed in him.
The appointment comes at a time when the media landscape is undergoing rapid transformation, with readers increasingly accessing news through digital platforms and social media. The new Editor is therefore expected to drive content that will appeal to both traditional readers and the digital audience of the Church.
Rev. Ihedigboโs professional career spans journalism, newspaper publishing, strategic communication and media management.
As Editor of Methodist News, he will provide editorial direction, coordinate news stories, features, interviews, reports and other editorial materials, and work closely with the leadership of the Church, the Media Conference, dioceses, ministers, correspondents and other contributors to ensure effective coverage of Church activities.
Ihedigbo Commends Methodist Leadership
Reacting to his appointment, Rev. Ihedigbo expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Methodist Church Nigeria for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to bring his professional experience and commitment to the assignment.
He particularly appreciated the Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Oliver Ali Aba, JP, for his exemplary leadership and commitment to the growth and development of the Church.
He also thanked the Secretary of Conference, Rt. Rev. Dr. Babatunde Taiwo, for his administrative support and quality leadership.
According to him, the leadership provided by the Prelate and the Secretary of Conference has continued to create an enabling environment for ministers and other workers to contribute meaningfully to the mission of the Church.
Ihedigbo pledged to work closely with the Media Conference and other stakeholders to ensure that Methodist News remains a credible, informative and professionally managed publication that reflects the life, mission and activities of the Methodist Church Nigeria.
He also pledged to uphold the values of responsible journalism, including accuracy, fairness, professionalism and integrity.
