The Executive Chairman of Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu, has taken another step towards supporting education in the council area, with the fulfilment of his administrationโs promise to provide free General Certificate of Education (GCE) forms to students in the Senior Secondary School Three (SS3) class.
At least 200 students drawn from secondary schools across Apapa-Iganmu LCDA are being offered the benefit, which is aimed at easing the financial burden on parents and guardians while giving eligible students an opportunity to advance their academic pursuits.
The exercise, which commenced on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at the councilโs conference hall, forms part of the administrationโs commitment to educational support and creating opportunities for young people within the community.
To ensure fairness, transparency and credibility, the beneficiaries are being shortlisted through an online registration process designed to identify eligible students for the programme.
The registration exercise is being supervised by the Supervisor for Education, Hon. Akinloluwa Adejumo, who is overseeing the process to ensure that the selection of beneficiaries follows the established procedure.
The provision of free GCE forms represents a practical intervention for students preparing for an important stage in their educational journey. For many families, the cost of examination registration can place additional pressure on already stretched household budgets.
By shouldering this expense for the selected students, the council is helping to reduce one of the barriers that could hinder their academic aspirations.
Beyond the immediate financial relief, the initiative underscores the importance of investing in education as a means of empowering young people and strengthening the future of the community.
With at least 200 students set to benefit, the programme demonstrates how targeted interventions at the grassroots level can help students pursue their educational goals while providing support to their families.
For Hon. Jimoh’s administration, the commencement of the registration exercise marks a significant step in translating its educational commitment into action.
The initiative places students at the centre of the councilโs support efforts and reinforces the role of local government in complementing the educational aspirations of residents.
As the online registration and shortlisting process continues, eligible SS3 students across Apapa-Iganmu LCDA have an opportunity to benefit from the programme and take another step towards their academic ambitions.
Promise made, promise kept: Through the provision of free GCE forms, the Jimoh led administration is demonstrating its stated commitment to supporting education and expanding opportunities for students in Apapa-Iganmu.
