St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Amukoko, witnessed a massive turnout of the crème-de-la cream in the society, leaders of various churches, Imams, Alfas, Obas, parishioners of St. Matthew’s Catholic church, Parish Priest, government officials from Lagos State / Ifelodun Local government, and representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN who came to acknowledge the supremacy of God at the third Christmas carol / concert 2023.
There was, indeed an overflow of people who attended the programme in honour of Almighty God, the initiator, Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowe, chairman of Ifelodun LCDA, who many describe as a lover of God and humanity.
His position as the chairman of the LCDA has brought hope to many through the various programmes he has initiated. Looking at his score card, there is great evidence that Okeowo is a God sent for the people of Ifelodun and its environs.
His achievements includes materials supports, development projects, health care for everybody, educational supports, widows support and keying into the mandate of the Federal Government in the distribution of palliatives to the people of Ifelodun, and financial supports to business men and women.
Above all, Okeowo, finds it necessary to create time to praise God as the bible says, praise opens doors, looking at the story of the Wall of Jericho, Paul and Silas it was praises and prayer. The Chairman obviously understands the efficacy in praises and prayers, it was not therefore surprising when he calls friends, well-wishers, market leaders, and others to join him to glorify the name of God, and the turnout was a huge successful. God provides his support for his programme.
Few comments recorded from two personalities, the representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Lagos, Bishop Steven Olayinka Oyinlola said, “I think Ifelodun is one of the very few Local Governments that is Lucky because of the gift of Okeowo, because of the standard Okeowo set, when we have function at State level, we will invite you, you represented us well for uniting the various religions, you are a good man.
“For all Christians, we are not political parties but we pray and support the party in power so that things will be better for followers. We want to pray for your supports, I want to thank you for taking care of our people, if not I would have come to you. Mr. Chairman, you did well, some Local Governments are not in the Google but you are, I use Google to locate here.”
The church auditorium was set on fire of Praise and dance by the guest artist, Mrs. Adeyinka Akinyomi, and the parishioners of St. Matthew’s Chores and other choristers from the various Christian denominations supported and the walls of the church were shaking to the glory of God.
On his part, HRM Oba Marufudeen Oyekunle Atanda Oluwa, the Olu-Iwa and Apapa Kingdom, commended the spirit of uniting people for the praise of God, even as himself participated to the end of the prayer. Mayor Okeowo, well-done, keep the flag flying.
