 Excerpts:

What prompted your coming together today as Customs officers, the retired, and stakeholders to celebrate?

What prompted our coming here to jubilate and to celebrate our Lord Jesus Christ has done it again for the Nigerian Customs Christian Fellowship in conjunction with Integrity Christian Assembly International, because the man in charge of Integrity Christian Assembly happens to be the pioneer, the initiator, the visionary of NCCF. We come together to organize this auspicious event to celebrate our brethren that are privileged to be elevated and promoted into the management cadre of the Nigerian Customs Service.

How committed are these brethren to the affairs of NCCF?

They are highly, committed, highly dedicated,  highly when I mean commitment, it is understatement, I have known them when they were 11 Star Officers, and they rose up to this cadre. Like the case of Dr. Harrison, he started his hierarchy at NCCF as Outreach Coordinator, from there to National Secretary General of this great organization, and he rose up to Deputy Coordinator, that is the Vice President of this great assembly, and now just last year, he happens to be the National President of National Coordinator of NCCF, and the Lord cemented, compensated him, rewarded him to be a Comptroller today.

And the case of Bamiseye, I have known him as an 111Star Officer, highly co-ordinated, highly dedicated, highly committed in field of his endavour, in various units, he has been in customs, now he is a Comptroller of Customs, and presently he is the Zonal Coordinator, NCCF in Lagos State. So they are quality Christians, with great integrity and with great honesty.

You have NCCF Secretariat at Customs Training College, Ikeja, why come here to thank God for the promotion of some officers in Customs?

That is an interesting question and that is an intelligent question, as I said earlier, that Rev. (Dr.) Soul Nzomimbaye happened to be the initiator, the visionary, the first paramount General Overseer, and the Pillar of NCCF. We deem it fit to come here in order to draw and to reload ourselves with an anointing and to give him that respect and that regard because he gave us this platform NCCF, it’s like we going back to Bethel to worship God, to celebrate, to jubilate and to say God, thank you, we are not just celebrating God, we are not just celebrating our Lord Jesus Christ, but we are also appreciating the visioner, Rev. (Dr.) Soul Nzomimbaye for being a sacrificial lamb to this great organization, you have heard his testimony he has sacrificed a lot of things for the survival of NCCF. He said, NCCF happened to be his child, he is the breadwinner. So we have come here to say thank you, Lord Jesus Christ, thank you Rev. Soul.

Serving the Nigerian Customs and also running a ministry must have placed a burden on you, and moreover you’re a married man, how are you able to cope?

You see, the bible says something, it says, “Go ye into the world, go ye into the world, and win souls. Make the disciples of every nation, and the Lord says first, seek yea him first the kingdom of God and its righteousness…”  Now God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit come first before this job. Now, we are in Customs, the Bible says, we are in the world, but we are not for the world. Then, I put it this way, we are in Customs, but we are not for Customs. We use Customs as a platform to serve God, we serve God in truth and in holiness and righteousness, God will now service our faith and we will customize our dignity, our nobility in his kingdom.

What is your advice to young officers from what you learn from Rev. Soul  and other BoTs in NCCF?

Look, I normally tell them, you heard my testimonies, there is life in Custom actually, but there is life after Customs, and there is also life of eternity which supersedes every other life.

I have to advise them, you know they said, if you cannot beat them, you join them, but if you cannot join them and you cannot beat them, you crush them, so be a light, we are the light of the world, we are salt, we have to enlighten people about Godliness and Holiness in Customs.  There are quality Christians in Customs serving the Lord, praising the Lord, worshipping God, and doing the needful to uplift the economy of this great nation in all honesty.

Can you rate the performance of the new CGC of Customs, within the short period of his leadership of Customs?

O my God, the Comptroller-General of Customs is awesome, he has been the Public Relation Officer in the Nigerian Customs despite his faith not withstanding, he was one of the first officers that won what we call Nigerian Customs Honesty and Integrity Award, and he is a man of God of high integrity. He is a man of God of fidelity, and honesty, he does not discriminate. He is a credible, competent officer.

Are you saying he merited his position?

He merited it by all ramification. He merited all standards, he started from the scratch, and he has risen to this credible, this class, so he knows it all. He is too humble to the core.

Your advice to the newly promoted officers?

I always tell them that they are promoted to promote God’s kingdom. You are promoted to promote others. Promotion comet from no other source, if you have it at the back of your mind that promotion comes from God, definitely you will utilize the opportunity and use that state as a  platform, as an altar to showcase God and his people. Thank you.
