The management of Nigeria Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) has implored Nigerians to cultivate and imbibe the spirit of maintenance culture to enhance durability of projects.
The company made the advocation in Lagos during the commissioning of a borehole project and handling over of Sumec Firman Power Generator to Adebola Creative Comprehensive College, Morogbo, Badagry.
Speaking at the occasion, the AGM, Corporate Communication of NAHCO, Mr. Olutayo Ajakaye emphasised the importance of maintenance culture, saying it goes a long way to enhance durability of projects.
Ajakaye, who spoke on behalf of the GMD/CEO of the company Mr. Indranil Gupta, also pointed out the need for intervention in the provision of facilities to assist schools, stressing that even government alone can not provide all that is required.
His words, ” What we do here today is what we do regularly, especially in the area where we operate, Port environment be it here in Lagos, Abuja Portharcourt, Enugu and other parts of the country. It’s something we’re used to doing and we have so many requests on our list, because we have to understand that it is so difficult for individuals, corporate organisations and even for government alone to maintain schools and provide all the facilities that those schools will need.”
” We were at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) the other day for the commissioning of a facility like this and you can see the deterioration of the facilities there. Of course you can see that the OAU itself is located on a vast land, and some of the facilities were built in those days and government can not maintain them. The school itself is just struggling. And so, private schools particularly do need some of this intervention because this kind of thing is not just easy to get.
“So what I want to say is that we have to maintain whatever we have. The main point I want to say here today is to maintain the PPP so that it can last for a long time”.
Ajakaye applauded the school management for its doggedness at being afloat inspite the difficult economic situation.
He appreciated the students for the wonderful display of chorography and exhibition of the culture of the three Nigerian’s major tribes at the occasion.
In his welcome address, the Director/CEO of the school Prince Adegbehin Adetarami commended NAHCO for the gesture, asserting that the project has healed a wound ailing the school.
Represented by the principal of the school Mrs. (Princess) Mary Adegbehin, the CEO emphasised that the provision of the generator will ensure a reliable electricity supply, while the water project ensure access to clean water.
His words, ” TODAY NAHCO HAS HEALED A WOUND THAT IS SERIOUSLY AILING US AS AN INSTITUTION, with This life-changing gift, not only has it quenched our thirst for clean water, but also illuminates our path to a brighter future with the provision of a generator. AND TO WHICH WE SHALL REMAIN FOREVER GRATEFUL.

In his goodwill message, chairman of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) Dr. Okedusi Olorunsola applauded the management of NAHCO for the gesture, stressing that its open door policy and philanthropy speaks volume of its corporate social responsibility across the country.
Okedusi added that the gesture will remain evergreen in the heart of the students and would be projected and promoted by them, just as he assured that it will be judiciously put to use.
Speaking at the occasion, the Divisional Police Officer ( DPO) Morogbo, CSP Adekunle Olaitan lauded Nahco for the project, saying that the company has by extension inculcated in the students the idea of giving back to the society.

In another dimension, what you have done today is not only for consumption or drinking of water, but you’ve laid a good legacy for these children.
