In a remarkable demonstration of visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to socio-economic development, Hon. AbdulHameed Salawu, the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, has made a bold promise to complete all ongoing projects before the end of his administration next year. This laudable commitment is a testament to his administration’s dedication to transforming Somolu through various projects, including human support, youth empowerment, infrastructural development, educational support, palliatives, and healthcare initiatives.

Salawu’s Promise: A Beacon of Hope for Somolu Residents

Speaking at the 2025 Budget retreat, Salawu emphasized the importance of completing all projects, which will be factored into the 2025 Budget for consideration and implementation. He assured residents that his administration will not abandon any project, stating that “we are not going to hand over any abandoned project to our Successor”. This promise is a welcome development for the residents of Somolu, who are eagerly anticipating the positive impact of these initiatives on their community.

Transformative Projects and Initiatives

Some of the notable projects mentioned include the ultra-modern Council Secretariat, which is expected to be commissioned early next year. This project aims to provide a conducive environment for workers in Somolu LG to interact freely as of old. Other projects include human support, youth empowerment, infrastructural development, educational support, palliatives, and healthcare initiatives, all of which are designed to improve the socio-economic well-being of Somolu residents.

Revenue Generation and Budgetary Provisions

The Council Manager, Mr. Abiodun Babington, encouraged revenue collectors to apply the ideas gained from various trainings to improve the Internally Generated Revenue of the Local Government. Meanwhile, the Council Treasurer, Mr. Abayomi Odusanya, appealed to residents to pay their rates and levies to support the completion of ongoing projects. The Head of Budget, Planning and Statistics, Mr. Femi Giwa, emphasized the importance of budgetary provisions, stating that every expenditure must be captured in the Budget.
