Ifelodun LCDA: Okeowo Unveils 2025 Budget Focused on Sustainability

Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, in a landmark session held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at the Legislative Chamber, presented the proposed 2025 Budget Appropriation Bill to the 5th Legislative Council.

Tagged the “Budget of Sustainability”, the ₦11.08 billion proposal aims to sustain development momentum and improve the quality of life across the LCDA.

 Highlighting achievements over the past three and a half years, Mayor Okeowo emphasized strides in education, healthcare, infrastructure, social welfare, and economic empowerment.

Key achievements include:

  • Distribution of free school materials and over 2,000 GCE and JAMB forms to indigent students through the OKE EDU program.
  • Financial assistance to 250 tertiary students under the OKE BURSARY initiative.
  • Provision of free medical services, an ambulance bus, and ongoing construction of an ultramodern healthcare centre via OKE MEDICINE.
  • Construction and rehabilitation of multiple roads, installation of solar streetlights, and the construction of 14 water systems.
  • Empowerment of over 500 residents with skills, tools, and financial grants through OKE EMPOWERMENT.
  • Monthly financial support to vulnerable groups and distribution of food palliatives under OKE MONEY and OKE FOOD programs.

The proposed 2025 budget allocates:

  • 48.3% (₦5.36 billion) for capital expenditure.
  • 31% (₦3.40 billion) for operational costs.
  • 15.3% for personnel and pension costs.

Revenue projections include federal allocations, VAT, exchange rate gains, and internally generated revenue, ensuring no capital loan burdens.

Mayor Okeowo called for the swift passage of the budget to sustain ongoing progress and deliver continued dividends of democracy to the people of Ifelodun LCDA.

He concluded by urging stakeholders to remain hopeful, emphasizing that the renewed hope agenda is on track.

In attendance are the Vice Chairman of the LCDA, Alhaja Adetoun Ojora-Adejiyan; former Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Famakinwa Adedayo Olufemi; some members of the G17 Apex body; Members of the Executive Council; the Chieftaincy council; the DPOs of Amukoko and Layeni Police Stations; Representatives of the NIREC; the management team and others.

In an interview with Mayor Okeowo about the 2024 budget, he said that they are approaching 100 percent completion of the budget.

Over the years, there have been a lot of developments in infrastructures, health care, security, education, empowerment, empowerment of youths,  free G.CE., and JAMB forms today everybody is here to listen to the budget implementation for 2025; what are the key highlights of your speech on the usage of 2024 budget?

It is a good question.

We have made efficient use of people’s money, well planned, and that is the planning we have brought to them today. That is financial planning; we have to continue to make the people of Ifelodun happy. We are going to ensure that we stick to the latest in the budget appropriation.

In his speech to the people of Ifelodun LCDA, as the celebration is approaching, he wishes for the best of 2025. Okeowo said that they have given out palliatives to make the people of Ifelodun happy during this period, and we will continue to make Ifelodun happy.
