The saying that honour should be giving to whom it’s due, can be said to be apt in describing the Excellence Awards bestowed on some selected Police Officer serving in the Lagos State Police Command for being outstanding in the discharge of their duties in year 2024.
Although, 2024 posed numerous challenges to the nation’s security sphere ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry, abduction, car theft, financial fraud, cultism amongst others.
Lagos State being the centre of excellence and the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria did also have its own fair share of the challenges.
However, some police officers notably distinguished themselves in the discharge of their duties, bringing more hope and restoring the seamingling lost trust and confidence in the police back to the heart of the citizens.
These officers are among the individuals making the Nigeria Police proud, and fall within the rank of the un-song heroes, heroines silently oiling the wheel of progress of the nation in their choosing field, by ensuring a peaceful, safer and secured environment.
The beneficiaries were selected based on merit, having stood shoulder high than their contemporaries sequel to the report of the award committee who were meticulous in the screening of the numerous nominees for the award.
They were found to be quintessential, proficient, reliable, down to heart, unassuming, dogged crime fighter, highly discipline, incorruptible, credible, intelligent and strong believer in the police policy of the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun,PhD.
Amongst the few honorees were the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Area ” E” Command, Festac, ACP Nwachukwu Eburuaja, who bags the Most Distinguished Area Commander of The Year 2024 Award, the Divisional Police Officer, Ishashi Division, CSP Talabi Segun, Best DPO of The Year 2024 Award, Divisional Police Officer, Trade Fair Division,CSP Olabisi Elebute, Outstanding DPO Of The Year 2024 Award, Divisional Police Officer, Somolu Division, CSP Edindiong Effiong Enontuk, Most Proficient DPO of The Year 2024 Award, while the Station Officer Badia Police Station, Inspector Matthew was bestowed with the Award of The Most Proficient/Gallant Station Officer (SO) Of The Year 2024.
In approving the nominations for the prestigious awards, the management took cognisance of the bravery and gallantry of the officers in their duties.
Importantly, their exceptional dedication to duty with zeal, effective and efficient coordination of operations and activities in their jurisdictions were taken into consideration.
Management was of high hope that the Award will further propel the awardees to be more committed in service delivery of public safety.
