In this exclusive interview, Eze Mbanabu Egbe I shares his insights on Eze Prosper’s remarkable work and expresses his support for his initiatives.
Interviewer: Good day, Your Royal Majesty. Your dressing attire signifies an Igbo leader. Seeing you at His Imperial Majesty Dr. Amb. Prosper Chukwuka’s palace on this great event, can you tell us more about yourself?
Eze Mbanabu Egbe I: I am His Royal Majesty Eze Mbanabu Egbe I of Egbe Miri Ancient Kingdom. I was installed as Eze Ndigbo in 1997 in South Africa, and I base in Festac, Lagos, as Ezendigbo Festac Town.
Interviewer: What inspired you to come to His Imperial Majesty Dr. Amb. Prosper Chukwuka’s program today?
Eze Mbanabu Egbe I: I am here today because of what he is doing for the prisoners. We want to support him to ensure that we can continue to release prisoners. A lot of people in prison are suffering, so we want to decongest prisons so that they can come out and start new lives.
Interviewer: We appreciate your kind words about Eze Prosper’s humanitarian work. Can you tell us more about your thoughts on his efforts?
Eze Mbanabu Egbe I: Eze Prosper is doing a great job, and we should all support him. His work is truly inspiring, and we should all learn from his example.
Interviewer: Can you tell us about some of your achievements?
Eze Mbanabu Egbe I: I own an NGO called Lawri Childs Foundations, which I have operated for about 19 years. I help widows, and I own a school. I also give scholarships to children whose parents need assistance. Additionally, I provide job opportunities through my school and engage people who are jobless and qualified in areas where we need their services.
Interviewer: What is your advice to His Imperial Majesty Dr. Amb. Prosper Chukwuka to encourage him?
Eze Mbanabu Egbe I: My advice to him is that he should be focused and not mind what people are talking about. He should continue his good works.
Interviewer: As Ezendigbo, Igbos usually celebrate the New Yam Festival. What are your plans for this year?
Eze Mbanabu Egbe I: My New Yam Festival is next month, August. I will eat my new yam in Lagos and then go to my village, Egbe Miri Ancient Kingdom, to celebrate and eat my new yam.
