Chief Solomon Aguene, a respected leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, delivered a heartfelt address emphasizing unity and reconciliation at the peace meeting held on February 7, 2026, at Calabar Hall, Surulere Lagos state. His message called for lasting peace and collaboration among all factions.
The two factions of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, led by Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene (Udochia) and Chief Sunday Ossai (Stainless), had been locked in a power tussle for three to four years. On February 7, 2026, at Calabar Hall, Surulere, Lagos state, both leaders finally agreed to make peace and work toward electing a new president to spearhead Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State.
Chief Solomon, who holds a court consent judgment affirming his presidency, explained that the meeting’s purpose was to reconcile all factions with the Central Ohanaeze and conduct a free and fair election. He noted that Senator John Azunta Mbata, the worldwide president, had earlier intervened, urging everyone to unite under one umbrella for elections, but resistance from some quarters delayed progress.
According to Chief Solomon, Chief Ossai, who had said he was duly elected, eventually recognized the need for unity and publicly declared his willingness to work together with Solomon’s to make peace. He expressed regret for any role he played in prolonging the crisis and acknowledged that certain individuals were exploiting the conflict for personal gain, using his name to extort money from people.
Chief Solomon also highlighted that the peace meeting was successful because it attracted great Ezendigbo, chiefs, women leaders, and representatives from various local governments, who all left joyfully, signaling a new dawn for Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State.
He further revealed that he and Chief Ossai have been friends since 2002, and their reconciliation marks a turning point for Ndigbo in Lagos, as they now plan to elect a new president and move forward in unity. Chief Ossai reportedly said, “Enough is enough, let us unite for the progress of Ndigbo in Lagos State.”
Chief Solomon’s goodwill message to Ndigbo worldwide was clear: “There is nothing like peace. It is only peace you can achieve your aim, and we must embrace peace. Everybody should emulate Chief Ossai, Solomon, and those who are interested in peace.”
