- “True success is measured not by wealth amassed, but by lives elevated.” – Eze Nwokedi
Felix Mbata, Lagos state
On a bright and beautiful day, Sunday 16th August 2026, the palace of Eze Dr. Chika C. Nwokedi overflowed with music, excitement and jubilation.
The compound was alive. Vehicles stretched beyond the gates, the atmosphere was charged with celebration, and dignitaries trooped in from across Nigeria. From the sons and daughters of Obodoukwu to Igbo leaders, business executives, police chiefs, community leaders, and well-wishers — all came for one sacred occasion.
It was the 25th Wedding Anniversary of Eze Dr. Chika C. Nwokedi and his virtuous wife, Pst. Dr. (Amb.) Tessy Chika Nwokedi — a celebration of a covenant birthed in faith without wealth, nurtured through perseverance, and today crowned with honor, legacy, and the fulfillment of a divine vow.
A COVENANT SEALED BY GOD
Addressing the august gathering, Eze Nwokedi recounted the divine orchestration of their union.
“At the genesis, I possessed neither automobile nor edifice, neither material allure. Yet Pst. Dr. (Amb.) Tessy Chika Nwokedi accepted me. I hearkened unto God, and God did not lead me astray.”
He extolled his wife as a woman of virtue, a pastor, and an intercessor without reservation. “Our conflicts are resolved within us. We admit no third party,” he affirmed.
In a moment that stirred the entire assembly, Eze Nwokedi fulfilled a vow made 25 years ago in the crucible of their early struggles.
“If this marriage endures 25 years, I will present a car to you,” he had promised. Today, that promise was kept.
Amidst jubilation, AIG Simeon Udofia Akpanudom presented the brand-new car to Pst. Dr. Tessy.
With emotion, the King declared: “Twenty-five years ago I chose you. By God’s grace, today I choose you again. I covenant to continue to honor, cherish, and stand by you. May the Almighty grant us many more years to walk together. I love you.”
His wife, in profound appreciation, reciprocated the vow of love, honor, and support, glorifying God for their journey and the family they have built.
FROM HUMILITY TO ROYALTY – A JOURNEY OF PERSEVERANCE
Eze Nwokedi bared his soul in testimony. In 1992, he departed Obodoukwu, Imo State for Lagos with minimal formal education and scarce opportunity. He found himself in the Ladipo motor spare parts market, where he endured years sleeping on shop floors, bathing in the open, and engaging in menial toil to survive.
Yet he refused despondency. Anchored by faith, industry, integrity, and tenacity, he ascended to become Chairman of the Ladipo Auto Central Executive Committee, and subsequently Managing Director/CEO of Chipresido Merchandise Property Limited.
He attributed this meteoric rise to God, and to the sacrificial support of his wife and late mother-in-law who stood by him when he had nothing. That season forged his philosophy:
“True success is measured not by wealth amassed, but by lives elevated.”
A LEGACY OF PHILANTHROPY
Today, his humanitarian work transcends ethnicity. He has built homes for widows, granted business capital, sponsored education, donated land, and uplifted the downtrodden across Nigeria.
“My greatest satisfaction is in using my resources to improve the lives of others,” he stated.
A GATHERING OF ESTEEM
The silver jubilee attracted luminaries whose presence spoke volumes about the King’s stature. Chief Sunday Udeh, Chairman/CEO of Okeyson Motors; High Chief Sunday Akpoyibo, President General of Igbo Speaking Community; AIG Simeon Udofia Akpanudom; AIG Okunade Ronke Nurat of Maritime, Lagos; AIG, FCID Alagbon, Lagos; Chief (Dr.) Okey Udeji; and His Imperial Majesty Eze Ndigbo Lagos, Great Fred Nwajiagu were all in attendance. Stakeholders of Ndigbo Buru’Otu Association, Eastern Brothers Club, Obodoukwu indigenes, and royal fathers also graced the occasion.
As the tributes poured in, the people’s voice rang clear.
– AIG Okunade Ronke Nurat described Eze Nwokedi as “an unwavering ally of the Nigeria Police Force.”
– Chief Okey Udeji observed that the massive turnout despite poor roads was “irrefutable proof of a man beloved by his people.”
– Chief Oluchukwu Melechi praised him as “compassionate, accessible, and loyal,” while Eze Ndigbo Lagos lauded him as “a diligent son of Igboland committed to the welfare of his people.”
The celebration culminated in the cutting of the anniversary cake, melodious renditions, dance, and distribution of gifts to guests.
LEGACY NOTE:
For Eze Dr. Chika and Pst. Dr. Tessy Nwokedi, this was more than an anniversary. It was the coronation of 25 years of faithfulness, resilience, and service. It was the public affirmation that when a man keeps covenant with God and with his wife, God crowns that union with honor. May their union continue to flourish in peace, health, and prosperity for decades to come.
