Chief Emmanuel Ubah (Otunba Ojoto), a prominent Igbo leader and politician, has extended his congratulations to Chief Leo Okafor on his victory in the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State election. Otunba Ojoto, who contested against Chief Okafor, acknowledged his opponent’s win and pledged his support for the new leadership.
In a statement, Otunba Ojoto expressed his gratitude to the past president, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, chairmen of all local governments, stakeholders, Ndiezes, and the entire Igbo community in Lagos State for their support and encouragement during the election. “I thank you all for believing in me and for your unwavering support,” he said.
Otunba Ojoto urged all his supporters to rally behind Chief Okafor’s leadership, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility, unity, and reconciliation. “The election is over, and now is the time for unity, reconciliation, and purposeful leadership,” he said. “I call on all my supporters to join me in congratulating Chief Leo Okafor and his team, and to work together for the advancement of Ndigbo in Lagos State.”
He advised Chief Okafor to prioritize unity among Igbo factions in Lagos, focusing on the welfare of Ndigbo, and implementing policies to improve members’ well-being and opportunities. “The welfare of Ndigbo should remain a top priority,” Otunba Ojoto emphasized. “I urge you to ensure that your administration is inclusive, transparent, and accountable to the people.”
Otunba Ojoto also encouraged the new leadership to construct a magnificent secretariat for Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, saying, “This project would strengthen the organisation’s presence and serve as a central point for coordinating activities of Ndigbo in the state.”
