In furtherance of efforts to up the economic growth of Apapa Iganmu LCDA, the executive chairman Hon. Jimoh Olawale Saliu on Thursday 22nd January, 2026 engaged officials of the Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Industry in a fruitful deliberation to explore areas of benefits to residents of the council.
The strategic engagement, held at the conference hall of the Ministry at the State Secretariat, Alausa, aimed at reinforcing partnership between the LCDA and the ministry to boost the economy of the former through Small and Medium scale entrepreneurship.
The entourage of the LCDA helmsman were egg heads in their various fields, who made insightful contributions to the discussions namely Hon. Sanni Dotun, Director, Centre for Employment and Job Creation, Apapa Iganmu LCDA, Hon. Tedunjaye Olugbenga Raymond, Special Aide, Media & Publicity, Hon. Olanrewaju Fatai, Chief of Staff to the chairman and Hon. Ibrahim Anifowose, Personal Assistant to the chairman.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, who was unavoidably absent was represented by top management officials from each of the parastatal, which include Mr. Oladipupo Adedeji, Director Admin & Human Resources, Mrs. Dauda, Director, Investment, Mrs. Adedoyin Alatise of the Commerce & Cooperative Department amongst.
The engagement, which turned a resourceful interactive session, offered a great opportunity for Hon. Jimoh to reel out his giant strides since assumption of office, specifically in the area of economic prosperity for the residents.
In his blunt characteristics, the Apapa Iganmu LCDA helmsman demanded the outline of programmes of the ministry and its parastatals that the LCDA can greatly benefit from in the current business year.
He also highlighted some of the challenges encountered by various companies domiciled in his territory, calling for solutions to the menace, majorly the blockage of the collector challenge from Ijora market to the Lagos lagoon.
In an opening remarks, Mr. Oladipupo applauded the bold step taken by Hon. Jimoh to impact the lives of the residents through the planned collaboration.
He disclosed that the matrix of the ministry for year 2026 is tagged “Partnership: Take Part, Take Pride & Deliver Excellence”.
In her contributions, the Director of Investment, Mr. Dauda expantiated on the several advantages that can be explored by the LCDA, which include the services of the After Care Unit.
The Unit, according to her, search for frustrated companies or organizations that need assistance and liaise with the appropriate government agencies to provide succour.
On her part, Mrs. Alatishe elucidated on opportunities available in her department which include invitation to exhibit products at exhibitions and trade fair by the small and medium scale entrepreneurs within the state and outside the country.
She also highlighted some of the requirements to be met by producers to earn invitation for exhibition, which include registration with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), certification of products by relevant agencies amongst others.
The engagement, which turned out productive, ended on a fruitful note, with an assurance by the ministry to be of immense assistance.
