The continues massive gathering at Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State meetings is a testament of collective confidence in the leadership prowess of Chief Leonard Okafor.

On Friday, 29th August, 2027, history was made again in Ojo Local Government Area as Ndigbo from every corner of Lagos State stormed the 3rd monthly meeting of Ohanaeze Ndigbo under Chief Okafor’s administration. From Ejigbo to Alimosho, and now Ojo, the story has remained the same: large turnout, unity of purpose, and a clear roadmap for the future.

What was once doubted is now visible. In a short period, Chief Okafor has succeeded in restoring hope and repositioning Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos as a force that speaks with one voice and acts with one mind.

A NEW DAWN FOR NDIGBO IN LAGOS

Declaring the meeting open, Chief Okafor told the packed hall that his administration came to “put an end to unfulfilled expectations” and deliver real results for Ndigbo in Lagos.

“Promises are unfolding each time we hold these meetings,” he said. “From Ejigbo to Alimosho, and now Ojo, every gathering brings more development. That is leadership.”

He revealed his present and future plans for Ndigbo across business, politics, education, and welfare. He also used the opportunity to appreciate all supporters — financially and morally — who made the Ojo meeting a huge success with cultural dances, masquerades, and dignified representation.

UNITY FIRST: FACTION BURIED

In a major announcement that drew applause, Chief Okafor declared that the lingering crisis within Ohanaeze has been laid to rest.

“The issue of faction and no faction has been buried,” he stated firmly. “We have resolved the issues of Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene and Chief Sunday Ossai amicably. Ohanaeze Ndigbo should now focus on what moves us forward.”

To enforce discipline and protect the progress made, the Elders Council announced the suspension of some members.

“The progress of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State is paramount. It is not negotiable,” Chief Okafor emphasized.

2027 AND BEYOND: THE NEGOTIATION STRATEGY

The most talked-about part of the meeting was Chief Okafor’s position on the 2027 general elections.

Responding to a question from journalists  on Ohanaeze’s role as a non-political organization, he laid out a new doctrine:

*_”We cannot do it like before. We are in a different ball game. Lagos is where we are doing our business. Lagos is where we have our families and properties. That is our first point of call.

We are high stakeholders in Lagos. We cannot afford to quarrel.

All Ohanaeze, all market unions, all town unions, students, apprentices — everybody that has a stake in Lagos will come together. We will sit down with Lagos politicians and negotiate. We will invest in the government of Lagos State, and we will be part of the government of Lagos State.”

“We cannot be in a system and tackle the system,” he added.

POLITICIANS, BUSINESS AND THE ‘JEWISH SPIRIT’

The meeting also witnessed the presence of politicians from different political parties who came to identify with Ndigbo.

“They came on their own. We didn’t invite anybody,” Chief Okafor clarified. “They know Igbo people are holding meetings and they came to solicit. We have to welcome them. We are not politicians, but we cannot do without those who lead. We must consider where we do our business and where our families live.”

Drawing inspiration from global models, Chief Okafor compared Ndigbo to the Jews:

“Anywhere in the world, we are like the Jews. We are doing business and succeeding. Ndigbo can be equated to the Jews — the best business men and women all over the world.”

Great Igbo leaders, businessmen and stakeholders in attendance pledged their support to the vision of a united and prosperous Ndigbo in Lagos.

APPRECIATION AND NEXT STOP

Chief Okafor expressed deep gratitude to the Eze Ndigbo, Onyendus and group leaders in Ojo for hosting and mobilizing massively.

“I am immensely grateful for the massive turnout today. The success was a result of collective efforts. I applaud you and urge us to continue to maintain the good things we have started.”

He announced that the next Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State meeting will hold in September at Ifelodun Local Government Area.

Conclusively, the Ojo meeting has confirmed one truth: Ndigbo in Lagos have confidence in Chief Leonard Okafor. With unity restored, discipline enforced, and a clear political-economic agenda set, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos is positioning itself not as visitors in Lagos, but as builders and stakeholders of Lagos.
